Driver accused of running down Fort Dodge pedestrian on purpose

(Fort Dodge, IA) -- Fort Dodge Police say a driver ran down a pedestrian on purpose. Officers say 52-year-old Edward Brown's Jaguar sped onto a sidewalk Saturday night, hitting 57-year-old James Altman. Brown remained on scene and was arrested on attempted murder and assault charges. Altman was taken to a Fort Dodge hospital first, then transferred to a Des Moines hospital.

Brown's charged with Attempted Murder, Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury, and Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. He is being held in the Webster County Jail.

Witnesses told police it Brown's car was northbound on 10th Street, when the driver turned around and started speeding southbound. The Jaguar drove up on the sidewalk and hit Altman, who suffered significant injuries.
