(Ankeny, IA) -- One person is in a hospital in critical condition after a car crashed into a guardrail on a bridge southeast of Ankeny. The car was found hanging over the edge of one side of the bridge on NE Berwick Drive yesterday (Fri). The passenger was impaled in the torso but was conscious. Firefighters had to cut the roof off the car to make the rescue. The driver walked away with minor injuries. Polk County Sheriffs' Sergeant Scott Van Der Weide says the passenger is expected to live.
