(Polk County, IA) -- A pedestrian was hit and killed by a dumpster truck this (Tuesday) morning near Pleasant Hill. The Polk County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 10 o'clock in the 10400 block of East University Avenue. Witnesses say the person walked out of a north ditch and was hit by the side of the truck. There are no sidewalks or crosswalks in the area.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says a dumpster roller truck belonging to Aspen Waste Systems was traveling westbound in the far-right lane when the pedestrian walked into traffic and was hit and killed.
No word yet on the pedestrian's name.
