(Polk County, Iowa) -- The Polk County Sheriff's Office is identifying the man killed after walking into traffic on Highway 163, which is East University Avenue, Tuesday morning near Pleasant Hill.
Investigators say Joshua Haman of Pella walked into the side of a truck carrying a roll-off dumpster around 10am. According to witnesses, Haman emerged from some tall grass along the highway, then seemed to walk directly into traffic.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says Haman's car was found westbound on East University Avenue where it appears to have rolled into a ditch around 5am that morning.
The initial investigation closed westbound lanes of East University for several hours on Tuesday. An investigation into the incident is still underway.
