(Dubuque, Iowa) -- The second trial of a man accused of killing his girlfriend in Dubuque is underway.
Fontae Buelow was convicted of the stabbing death of Samantha Link in 2018, but the Iowa Supreme Court ordered a new trial.
The Court upheld an appeals court decision to throw out the previous conviction, saying the judge in the case did not allow information regarding a suicide attempt Link had previously made as well as her mental health records.
Buelow says Link stabbed herself during an argument in March of 2017.
The trial is being held in Clinton County.
