Iowa - The National Weather Service says Iowa could see two rounds of severe weather Thursday.
The first round is likely to occur into Thursday morning in the southwest quadrant of the state, including the Des Moines area as well as the towns of Carroll, Atlantic and Lamoni.
Atlantic and Lamoni are in an area in the southwest portion of the state with a higher risk of severe weather.
The first-round could affect morning rush hour and morning school activities with hail and high winds most likely to occur. It should travel through the area by 7 am.
The second round of severe weather could take place Thursday afternoon and evening, and would extend from the northeast to the southwest part of the state.
The areas of Des Moines, Ames, Waterloo, Dubuque, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Davenport, Burlington and Ottumwa would be included.
Iowa City, Davenport, Burlington and Ottumwa are in an area with a higher risk for severe weather, which could include tornadoes, large hail and damaging winds.
Most of the state could get up to an inch of rain Thursday, with up to an inch-and-a-half possible in the northeast and southwest portion of Iowa.
