(Des Moines, Iowa) – A Des Moines woman is sentenced to 25 years in prison for hitting two young people with her car.
Nicole Poole Franklin was sentenced to two 25 year sentences to be served concurrently. She pleaded guilty to attempted murder after hitting a 14 year-old Hispanic girl and a 12 year-old black boy with her car.
Police say she yelled racial slurs at a gas station employee and admitted to smoking meth shortly before running down the two young people with her car. She'll be sentenced in August for two federal hate crimes.
