Gov Reynolds Says She Won't Run for U.S. Senate, Will Seek Reelection

IOWA - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says she won't run for the U.S. Senate.

She was asked Wednesday if she'd consider a run if fellow Republican Chuck Grassley retires from the Senate.

Reynolds said she will run for reelection as Governor, and will make a formal announcement later.

She's received national attention recently for fiercely moving away from COVID-19 restrictions and has made several appearances on FOX News.

Reynolds was lieutenant governor when she took over as Governor in 2017 after then-Gov. Terry Branstad was named U.S. ambassador to China. She was elected to her first full term in 2018, winning a 3-point victory over Democrat Fred Hubbell.

Reynolds is Iowa's first female governor.
