(Waukee, IA) -- Independence Day is less than a month away and anyone caught breaking Waukee's fireworks ordinance is facing a fine. The City says fireworks are only allowed on July 3rd and 4th between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. They say anyone who's caught setting them off at any other time can get a fine no less than $250 per violation. Fireworks must be set off on private property. The city says public property includes parks, parking lots, sidewalks, and streets -- even the grass between the sidewalks and the curb. Licensed sellers can sell fireworks to people 18 and older beginning June 13th through July 8th in Waukee.
