(Undated) -- Drought conditions are getting worse in Iowa. Nearly the entire state is either abnormally dry or in some form of drought. The area now listed in severe drought has greatly expanded from last week. Only about a half dozen counties in southeast Iowa are excluded from the dry conditions. Roughly the northern third of Iowa is in severe drought. The coverage area under severe drought also includes a large part of north central and central Iowa.
This week's crop report noted significant declines in both topsoil and subsoil moisture.
The next chance for storms is tonight and overnight. The National Weather Service says some could be severe.
