URBANDALE, Iowa -- It could cost more to attend the University of Iowa, Iowa State, an Northern Iowa this year.
The Iowa Board of Regents will take a first look this week at 3.5 percent tuition hikes at Iowa and Iowa State, and a 1.5 percent increase at Northern Iowa.
The Board says the increases are the result of the Legislature freezing funding for Regents schools in this year's session.
They say increases would mean about $280 more for Iowa and Iowa State students, and $115 dollars more for Northern Iowa students.
Final approval of the tuition increases could come during a July 28th Board of Regents meeting--that's less than a month before the first day of classes at all three schools.
This week's virtual Board of Regents meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
