Crews continue work in Ames after train derails, downtown crossings open

AMES, Iowa -- A train derailment this afternoon in Ames is trying up train crossing through downtown.

The police department says the train jumped the tracks west of Dayton Avenue of the city's east side.

They say Duff Ave., Kellogg Ave., Clark Ave., and Hazel Ave. crossings are all blocked, and are expected to be blocked until further notice.

Police suggest taking Dayton Rd., Grand Ave., Sxith St., or Stange Rd. as alternate routes.

Police say no injuries are reported.
