(Undated) -- This week's U.S. Drought Monitor shows some improvement in Iowa. A larger part of southeast Iowa is no longer abnormally dry. Most of the state, however, remains in some form of drought. A large part of northern Iowa is severe (D-2) drought. Several upper Midwest and Plains states have been in some form of drought this year. North Dakota has been especially dry, in extreme and exceptional drought.

Iowa received some rain last week, more is in the forecast.
