Pella Corp. & Vermeer each plan to hire at least 100 more Iowa employees

(Pella, IA) -- Two Pella-based companies are each planning to hire at least 100-more employees. Pella Corporation plans to hire 120-workers at it's Shenandoah plant, in southwest Iowa.

The company plans to consolidate the manufacturing of its wood window line to its Shenandoah location, which will require the purchase and installation of equipment.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority has approved 5.6 (m) million dollars for the project, plus a 200-thousand dollar forgivable loan. The additional jobs are incented at a qualifying wage of $20.58 per hour.

Vermeer, also based in Pella, is planning to hire another 100-workers. Vermeer is building a new parts distribution facility in Pella and repurposing another building for training. The state is investing nearly $44-million and awarding tax benefits for the expansion. Most of the jobs will have a starting wage of $22.62.
