(Coon Rapids, IA) -- Iowa's Garst family is selling nearly 2,000 acres of farmland. Steve Brewer with the Peoples Company says there are eight tracks of land in Carroll, Audubon, Guthrie, and Greene counties. Brewer says the family is getting a conservation easement to ensure conservation practices they adopted will continue.
The farmland tracts will be offered as 8 individual tracts via a Sealed-Bid Auction with a Live Auction to follow. Sealed-Bid Auction bids are due before 5:00 P.M. on Friday, August 6th. The top 7 individual tract or combination tract bidders will be invited to attend the Live Auction on Tuesday, August 17th at 10:00 AM.

The Garst family has been involved in a number of agriculture conservation innovations. The family is also known for hosting Soviet Premier Nikita Khruschev in 1959, during the Cold War. He was the first Soviet leader to visit the United States. Khruschev visited the Garst farm to observe U-S agriculture practices.
