Big changes have begun on a major link between Southeast Nebraska, Southwest Iowa, and Northwest Missouri;
The Nebraska Department of Transportation is now working on the Nebraska side of the Missouri River Highway 2 Bridge at Nebraska City in a planned rehabilitation project.
NDOT says, out of an abundance of caution for the traveling public, commercial and heavy trucks and loads will not be permitted on the bridge while work proceeds.
It is estimated these restrictions will remain in place for approximately one month.
All other traffic may continue to use this segment of the highway. Department of Transportation detours will be posted soon to aid traffic coming off Interstate 29 on the Iowa side.
Look for information on detours to be posted on message boards and 511.Nebraska.Gov, or through the Nebraska 511 app.
