The universities of Texas and Oklahoma announced yesterday that they will not be renewing their media rights contracts which expire in 2025. It now seems clear, both are headed to the SEC.

Here in Iowa, Iowa State University President Dr. Wendy Wintersteen and Athletic Director Jamie Pollard issued a joint video statement late yesterday which said in part “I think it’s really important though that all Cyclone fans understand that it’s not a time to panic,” Pollard said. “Our industry is in a complete state of flux and, quite frankly, every institution should be evaluating where they are and how things are gonna look as this landscape continues to change.”

“All Iowa State fans need to continue to just do what we do really well; fill Jack Trice Stadium and fill Hilton Coliseum and support our teams like no other institution in the country,” Pollard added.

Meanwhile, the Big !2 has reacted as well. Commissioner Bob Bowlsby said the remaining members are disappointed with Texas and Oklahoma's decision not to renew their media rights once they expire in 2025. But the conference admitted college athletics is dealing with "rapid change."

So what do you think? IS this the beginning of the end of the Big 12?
