(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines doesn't have a high enough coronavirus transmission rate to fall under the CDC's new face mask guidance, but some suburbs do. The CDC says Polk County's coronavirus transmission rate is moderate, meaning vaccinated people aren't recommended to wear masks indoors. However in Dallas, Boone, Story, Jasper, and Marion Counties, the transmission rate is high enough that everyone is recommended to wear masks indoors in public places. Governor Kim Reynolds says she doesn't support new mask mandates.
