For a long time now, firearms have been banned at the Iowa State Fair, but many people have carried concealed and didn't think anything of it.
Now the rules have changed and were updated earlier this month.
- Weapons of any kind are not permitted on the Fairgrounds. Firearms are prohibited on the Iowa State Fairgrounds with or without a valid Iowa permit to carry. Please allow additional time for bag checks, park entrance, and metal detectors. Grandstand bags and backpacks will be subject to search upon entry.
It has been a bone of contention for many Second Amendment proponents and now that they have put in metal detectors at every entrance, I'm wondering if it will change anyone's decision to attend.
