(Dyersville, IA) -- Word is spreading fast about next week's major league baseball game at Iowa's "Field of Dreams." 10,000 people have tickets to White Sox-Yankees game near the site of the 1989 movie in Dyersville. An overflow crowd will be able to watch the game on an L-E-D screen in the Dyersville city square. Residents have already noticed more visitors, ahead of next week's major league baseball game. They're hoping this becomes an annual event.

Karla Thompson of the Dyersville Chamber of Commerce says hotels are booked all over northeast Iowa, and they expect long after the final inning, they'll see benefits of the game, in the form of extra tourists. She says they're also planning a two-day festival, called Beyond the Game, Wednesday and Thursday, August 11-12th to appeal to visitors.

Tom Meitzel runs the company that oversees the Field of Dreams. He estimates visitation is already about double what it normally is just because of the pre-publicity.
