(Des Moines, IA) -- Homeowners and businesses near the Iowa State Fair are opening their yards and parking lots up to the public.
Houses close to the fair allow parking ranging from five to 15 dollars in exchange for a short walking distance to the fairgrounds.
Some homeowners say fair parking money can pay mortgages for the year, help with taxes, or save for household projects.
Signs for parking can be seen along streets near the fairgrounds.
