Iowa DOT Considering Ramp Meters For I-235

(Des Moines, IA) -- The Iowa Department of Transportation is considering adding ramp meters to several entrances to I-235. The goal is to reduce congestion on the busy interstate. If the plan moves forward, 14 entrance ramps would get the first ramp meters in the state. Recent studies show the stop-and-go traffic signals could reduce crashes by controlling how many cars enter the interstate at the same time.
