Man convicted of Attempted murder on escape status from Fort Des Moines

(Des Moines, IA) -- A man who was convicted of Attempted Murder and Going Armed with Intent in Polk County is on escape status from Fort Des Moines Work Release. The Iowa Department of Corrections says 66-year-old Danny Armstrong failed to report to the Fort Des Moines facility from work as required yesterday (Wednesday). 

He's described as a white male, height 5' 9", and weighs 221 pounds. He was admitted to the work release facility on 6/24/21.
