(Johnston, IA)--The Iowa Department of Education reports more students are enrolling in home school assistance programs.
Families are enrolling in the program due to rising COVID-19 cases across the state.
The Executive Director of Johnston Student Services says schools with an HSAP can talk to a home school liaison anytime throughout the year. Families are required to meet with the liaison once a quarter.
The liaison works with school districts and families to provide parents with homeschooling resources and assist with learning plans.
Students in HSAP can learn from home, but still participate in their district's extracurricular activities.
