(Des Moines, IA) -- Iowa colleges are being included in this year's "U-S News and World Reports" Best College Rankings. The rankings look at national universities and liberal arts colleges.

The University of Iowa is tied for 83rd among the top national universities and Grinnell College is tied for 13th among the nation's top liberal arts colleges.

Anita Narayan with U.S. News says student outcome is a big factor in determining how the schools are ranked.

"Student outcomes are things like freshman retention rates, graduation rates, social mobility indicators, and student indebtedness," said Narayan.

Narayan says they also consider things like faculty and financial resources, and the percentage of alumni who give back to their schools.
