(Urbandale, IA) -- The Urbandale School Board votes four to three in favor of reinstating a mask mandate. Everyone entering school facilities will be required to wear a mask starting Monday.
The board meeting Wednesday night drew a large crowd, which voiced their opinions throughout the evening. School board president Katharine Howsare threatened multiple times to end public comment due to the crowd's excessive outbursts.
“To all of you, you are called to listen, and please do that respectfully,” Howsare told the crowd, "If things go well, this plague will end as we know it, but some of the broken relationships that have happened will not."
In the aftermath of the decision from the school board, Howsare hopes the district can move forward united.
