(Des Moines, IA) -- The U.S. Department of Agriculture will increase benefits under the SNAP program starting October first.
The Division Administrator for the Iowa Department of Human Services says over 140-thousand Iowa households will see an increase in their SNAP assistance.
That means 285-thousand people, including 119-thousand kids, will be helped in Iowa with an increase in food assistance.
The CEO of the Des Moines Area Religious council says November will be the busiest month for people needing food assistance.
