(Des Moines, IA) -- About 20 animals at Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines will get vaccinated against COVID-19. Blank Park Zoo President Anne Shimerdla says no animals at the zoo have been infected by COVID. But she says carnivores like lions and tigers are more susceptible to getting infected. Animal vaccine producer Zoetis is providing 40 doses for the zoo. Shimerdla says Blank Park is one of about 69 facilities receiving the animal vaccine.
