UPDATE: Two arrested after gun, drugs found in car near Polk Co. school

(Polk County, IA) -- Two teens are charged after a gun and drugs were found in a car outside Saydel High School, prompting the school to go on lockdown. Deputies were called to the school this (Tuesday) morning, after a student told the principal that someone in a Ford Taurus had a hand gun. The principal then contacted the Polk County Sheriff's Office. When deputies arrived the driver sped away, heading south on NE 7th Street. The driver cashed in a yard at NE 6th and NE 57th Avenue. Three people in the car tried to run but were caught shortly after 8 a.m.

Nineteen-year-old Celeste Gifford and 16-year-old Clayton Frees are facing drug and weapons charges, after deputies found a .22 caliber rifle, Air Soft pistols, brass knuckles and drugs. A 15-year-old was released to a parent.
