(Waukee, Iowa) -- The Waukee Warrior Regiment is making plans for a big band trip next year. The band is one of 20-chosen to march in the 2022 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. This week Tournament of Roses Parade President Robert Miller came to Waukee to visit with students talk about what they can expect on New Year's Day.
Miller says it's his hope to share with the musicians the unique opportunity they have to perform before nearly a million people along the parade route. Miller says the television audience is typically around 40 million.
Miller says one of the most magical moments for those participating in the parade is when they make the famous sharp, right turn on Colorado Boulevard. He says at that point, participants in the parade get a tremendous vista down Colorado Boulevard and see the magnitude of the crowd.
