Des Moines Police Make Arrest in Connection with Fatal Shooting

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Des Moines Police make an arrest in connection to a fatal shooting.

Police say Darren Antwon Diggs is in custody facing charges of first-degree murder and first-degree robbery. Officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1600 block of Hull Avenue around 5:45 Friday morning and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim died at the scene.

Police say Diggs and the victim knew each other, and they believe the incident was a drug-related robbery. The fatal shooting was Des Moines' 9th homicide of 2021.
