(Des Moines, IA) -- Metro Waste Authority in Des Moines is opening a new recycling facility serving Polk County. The facility in Grimes is a 100,000 square foot building with $13-million of equipment. MWA Executive Director Michael McCoy tells WHO-13 the goal is to keep all of recyclables out of the landfill. It will be open to the public on November 1st however it is for commercial use only. The building also includes an education center so people in the community can learn how their materials are being recycled.
