(Waukee, Iowa) -- Waukee Police say they found a gun inside a Timberline School student's backpack.
Investigators say a school resource officer received a tip just after noon on Tuesday that a student had the gun at school. The officer and other school staff members found the gun after searching the student's backpack.
Police say the student did not threaten anyone and said the gun was for self-defense outside of school. Police confiscated it and sent the student to a juvenile detention facility.
