Governor Kim Reynolds to Extend Iowa's COVID Emergency Health Declaration

(Iowa) -- Iowa's COVID-19 Health Emergency Declaration will continue through the end of the year.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says she will extend the declaration that temporarily suspends certain state regulations on medical services and provides state resources to local communities. Iowa currently has the highest number of COVID hospitalizations so far in 2021 at 777, with 185 in intensive care units.

Reynolds says Iowa is following trends seen in southern U.S. states earlier in the year. She says she hopes to expire the emergency declaration at the beginning of next year.
