Council Bluffs Accepting Tree Debris For Free This Weekend

(Council Bluffs, IA) -- Following this week's severe storms, the city of Council Bluffs will accept tree debris for free this weekend.

The city says residents can drop off debris at the Council Bluffs Recycling Center at 4441 Gifford Road from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. on Friday and from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. After Saturday, tree debris will be accepted at the regular rate.

The city says free tree disposal is limited to tree debris from Council Bluffs residents and is not available to commercial entities, surrounding communities, or outlying areas. Residents will be required to present proof of address before disposal. All other entities will have to pay $27 per ton, with a minimum fee of $5.00 per load.

Branches and logs up to 24” in diameter shall be cut no longer than 10’ in length. Branches and logs 24” to 36” in diameter shall be cut no longer than 6’ in length. Branches and logs 36” and larger in diameter shall be cut no longer than 4’ in length. All loads of branches and logs not cut to specifications and/or containing metal, garbage, or stumps with excessive amounts of dirt will be charged $62 per ton.
