(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines Public Schools announces a new policy to cut down on fights. The policy released today says a student who participates in a physical fight will be put on a behavior contract to try to resolve any issues that led to the fight. If student participates in a second fight they'll be put on virtual learning for 30 days. A third fight will result in virtual learning for 60 days. The virtual learning will be conducted be a third-party service, not the school district. A full explanation of the new policy is posted on the school district's website.
