(Des Moines, IA) -- With Mayor Frank Cownie casting the single "no" vote, the Des Moines City Council has approved a new ward and precinct map for the city. The mayor argued the new map does not include enough urban representation in each of the city's wards. The new map pushes the eastern half of the First Ward to I-25, while the Fourth Ward gains an area that's south of Des Moines. The approved map will be forwarded to the Iowa Secretary of State's office.
