(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines metro towns are reminding people how and when to recycle their Christmas trees. Des Moines' Metro Waste Authority which covers many other towns (Altoona, Bondurant, Carlisle, Clive, Des Moines, Grimes, Johnston, Norwalk, Pleasant Hill, Polk City, Urbandale, West Des Moines and Windsor Heights) says people can put their trees at the curb in a Compost It! bag on their trash day until January 7th. Urbandale is exempt from needing the bag or tag. People in Waukee have from the 3rd to the 10th. All cities say the tree should be free of lights and ornaments. Wreaths and garland will not be picked up with the trees.
