(Urbandale, IA) -- Students applying to Iowa's public universities will no longer need to provide a standardized test score.
The Iowa Board of Regents voted to permanently end the standardized testing requirement at The University of Iowa, Iowa State University, and The University of Northern Iowa.
The board's policy change says that while standardized tests do provide extra information on a student's preparedness for college, the high school GPA of a student is a much stronger indicator.
Standardized test scores were temporarily made option at the start of the coronavirus pandemic, before this almost permanent change. The policy’s approved by the Board of Regents it would still need to be approved by the Administrative Rules Review Committee.
