(Des Moines, IA) -- A former state politician is going for the Polk County head prosecutor spot. Former Iowa House Democratic leader Kevin McCarthy wants to be the next Polk County Attorney. McCarthy represented Des Moines in the Iowa House of Representatives for ten years from 2003 to 2013. Polk County Attorney John Sarcone announced last summer he will not run for reelection this year. Two other people are also going for the top county attorney spot: Current attorney deputy to Sarcone, Laura Roan and Kimberly Graham.
