Douglas County Health Talks About Another Variant

The Douglas County Health Department says a new subvariant of the COVID-19 omicron is now in the Omaha Metro area.

Douglas County Health says two cases of the "stealth" variant have been found in the county.

The "stealth" variant was first detected in Denmark in December, and contact tracing shows both local cases involve people with a history of international travel.

Meantime, the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department says the Covid risk dial will stay red for a fourth consecutive week.

They say there is a continued severe risk of coronavirus spreading in the community.
