Mild, Dry Winter Weather Poses Fire Risk

The Omaha Office of the National Weather Service says an "Extreme Fire Danger" possibility is expected for much of Nebraska this afternoon, meaning any fires that start will be very hard if not impossible to control.

They advise residents to avoid any activities that could ignite a fire.

A "Red Flag Warning" has been issued for large areas west of the Omaha/Council Bluffs Metro area with "Very High Fire Danger" possibilities expected along both sides of the Missouri River.

In Douglas County, a burn ban is in place until further notice.

WOWT 6 News Senior Chief Meteorologist Rusty Lord says it will be another mild winter day but with a few more clouds and the gusty winds.
