(Undated) -- Iowa education leaders are considering rule changes to allow paraeducators to substitute teach after Iowa’s coronavirus emergency ends. Iowa's coronavirus emergency ends at 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, meaning paraeducators, or teaching assistants, won’t have special privileges to substitute teach anymore. Paraeducators have been allowed to sub during the pandemic because of a teacher shortage. The Iowa Board of Educational Examiners will meet Monday to talk about how to keep the policy in place.
