(Des Moines, IA) -- Des Moines' bus system is looking into expanding its on-demand services.

They already have a zone in Ankeny and they're looking into replicating it in West Des Moines.

"That would actually replace the fixed-route service," says Erin Hockman, Chief External Affairs Officer for DART. "People are used to going to a bus stop knowing the bus is going to be there at a set time ... and instead having to book a trip in advance."

The current program in Ankeny is $1/a ride anytime between 6 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
