Last night Governor Kim Reynolds delivered the official GOP response to President Biden's first State of the Union address.
But before we get to that, It's worth looking at what she was responding to. I thought his delivery was better than I thought it was going. to, but most of the content was at times, unbelievable and tone deaf.
We can all agree to "cure cancer", but when he said "secure the border", I almost threw something at the TV!
Joe Manchin - not impressed!
The highlight for me was his discussion of burn pits. It will be interesting to see if that goes beyond words and into actual action.
Renaming old policies that you couldn't pass, doesn't make them new policies. They will fail just like before and if by some miracle Biden did get them passed, they would feed inflation.
All of this brings us to Governor Reynolds. The GOP gave her one of the toughest jobs in politics - to respond to the State of the Union.
She hammered Biden for his weakness. "Weakness on the world stage has a cost. And the President’s approach to foreign policy has consistently been too little, too late,” she said. “It’s time for America to once again project confidence; it’s time to be decisive. It’s time to lead.”
Rep. Lauren Boebert has a message for Biden.
But she pointed out that Biden's weakness was everywhere. “This is not the same country it was a year ago. The President tried to paint a different picture tonight. But his actions over the last 12 months don’t match the rhetoric. It’s not what he promised when he took office,” Reynolds said. She said that Biden and the Democrats have spent the last 12 months either ignoring issues or making them worse.
She also talked about inflation which the Democrats have tried to say it's not everyone's problem. “The Biden administration believes inflation is a ‘high class problem,’ I can tell you it’s an everybody problem.” She remarked that we the people believe "enough is enough" when it comes to the Democrats out of control spending.
So how did she do? What do you think?
