Des Moines City Engineers Recommend Changes to George Flagg Parkway

Road Construction

(Des Moines, Iowa) -- Engineers with the City of Des Moines are recommending major changes to a busy street near the Des Moines Airport.

The city's engineering department conducted a study on southwest Des Moines infrastructure and is recommending realigning George Flagg Parkway. The realignment would move the parkway out of the 100-year flood plain and open up land north and west of the airport for development. The proposed realignment would move George Flagg Parkway to connect at Park and Bell Avenues at 30th street, instead of its current connection at Fleur Drive.
