DES MOINES, Iowa -- The absentee ballot request period is open for Iowa's June 7th primary election.
Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate says people who want to cast ballots through the mail can now submit their requests.
He says county auditors can begin mailing absentee ballots on May 18th--20 days ahead of Election Day.
Iowans can also download the request form directly from the Iowa Secretary of State website, VoterReady.Iowa.gov.
Ballot requests have to be received by the county auditor’s office by May 23.
Pate says In-person absentee voting in county auditors offices is available through June 6th--the day before the primary election.
