(Mitchellville, IA) -- Mitchellville northeast of Des Moines is booming! It has multiple construction projects like a plan to build 268 new houses. Mayor Nicholas Murrow says more people are moving to the area with current and future job opportunities like with Amazon and the new Meta facility. He says those people might want the option of small town living as opposed to living in the city. The town is also building a permanent outdoor stage to hold more concerts and events. Parks and Recreation Director Matt Cleverley says the hope is the stage will encourage more people to visit the town for larger events. Construction on the stage is scheduled to begin this summer. The town has also approved a plat for a $37-million industrial facility and it's looking into an industrial park. Mayor Murrow says both should bring in more job opportunities.
