(Des Moines, Iowa) -- The Des Moines School Board will meet next week to vote on a candidate for interim superintendent.
Associate superintendent Matt Smith is being recommended to fill the interim superintendent position. Current superintendent Dr. Thomas Ahart will be stepping down at the end of June. The board meets next Tuesday, April 5th, to vote on whether or not to confirm Smith as the district's interim superintendent.
Ahart announced his departure at the end of February.
