(Undated) -- New numbers from the U.S. Census Bureau say new business applications have been breaking records in Iowa.
"They have actually been rising above average for a decade or two now," says Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance research and analytic specialist Laura Thomas. "And then from 2020 to 2021, new business starts doubled."
Experts say it could take years to find out how many of those applications turned into actual businesses.
